City of Tampa launches COVID-19 relief fund for residents and small businesses

April 21 update: The City of Tampa has received the maximum number of individual/family applications at this time. The online application process is now closed. The City is reviewing applications against the qualifying criteria and will notify individuals of the outcome of their applications within the next 10 days or less.

On Tuesday, April 14, Mayor Jane Castor announced details of the City’s new One Tampa: Relief now, Rise Together Fund and its COVID-19 relief plan in partnership with the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay and The Tampa Bay Chamber. As the COVID-19 crisis continues to impact our community with challenges, the City of Tampa is offering critical financial support to eligible individuals, families and businesses.

The support program will provide direct payments to cover a substantial part of an individual’s or business’s rent or mortgage payment and essential utility costs for one month to provide a critical bridge to state and federal support funds. Payments will be made directly to the landlord or mortgagor or to the utility company.

Applicants will be able to apply online, by phone, or by mail by filling out an online qualifying questionnaire, which will be available at noon on Friday, April 17 for individuals/families, and on Tuesday, April 21 for small businesses.
