HART CEO Talks History and Future of Transportation in the latest Faces of Ybor
Tampa, Fla. (November 8, 2017) Katharine Eagan took over as CEO of Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) in 2015 after serving for years as the Chief Operating Officer for the transit authority.
Eagan is the newest face in the Ybor City Development Corporation’s video web series Faces of Ybor. The testimonials share inspiring stories from people who thrive in Ybor City. The series includes topics on education, redevelopment, new businesses and much more.
“The mission of HART is get you to all these fantastic things that make Hillsborough County the place that people love living in,” said Eagan. “We have wonderful quality of life, we have great parks, we have great amenities, but if you can’t get there, it doesn’t really count.”
HART came into existence in the late 1970s and has evolved throughout the years to accommodate the tremendous growth in the area, servicing approximately 1,000 square miles through buses, rideshare, streetcars and more.
HART’s headquarters are located in Ybor City above the original streetcar barn.
“Ybor City has been a fantastic location for us,” says Eagan. “We have friends who visit us from around the country, we love bringing them to Ybor because there is so much character and so much charm, it’s very unique.”
