Hotel Haya combines Ybor’s Historic Roots with Modern Comfort
Hotel Haya2A brilliant adaptive reuse of two distinctive buildings combined with a smart new build, Hotel Haya captures the exuberant Cuban, Italian, and Spanish influences of the famed Ybor City neighborhood. The hotel’s design by Alfonso Architects Incorporated evokes the 1950s Golden Age of Havana and features period fabrics, joyous colors and exposed brick walls that complement classic art, including four massive reproductions from Francisco Goya, one of the most influential Spanish artists of the 18th and 19th centuries. Even the in-room light bulbs are a nod to Ybor City’s vintage street lights, while collaborations with local brands like J.C. Newman Cigars, one of the oldest family-owned cigar companies in the country, pay homage to the community’s roots. Preserving the area’s heritage with a contemporary eye, Hotel Haya carries the spirit of Ybor City’s founding members and cigar artisans, weaving their stories into the guest experience with customized cigars and even rolling classes.Douglas Rodriguez, known as “The Godfather of Nuevo Latino Cuisine,” leads the hotel’s culinary program, which includes Flor Fina, an upscale restaurant with Gulf Coast-inspired Mediterranean cuisine prepared over an open-hearth grill. Café Quiquiriqui, the on-site charming Cuban cafe, will serve as a neighborhood gathering spot that will transport diners to a taste of the “Original Tampa.”

Hotel Haya also features a pool in the courtyard for glamourous, Laissez Faire lounging, serving cocktails and hosting intimate concerts for guests to enjoy. The property also features over 5,000 square feet of flexible meetings and events space. The 178-key Hotel Haya is the latest property unveiled by Kevin Robinson and Mario Tricoci of Aparium Hotel Group, whose award-winning properties include Kansas City’s Crossroads Hotel, Detroit Foundation Hotel and Minneapolis’ Hewing Hotel.
